You are watching: Difference between 1157 and 2057 bulb

Had a burned out tail light bulb, #1157 and wondered if I could use one of the #2057"s I had in the garage. Did a quick web search and found this page related to motorcycles that lists the common dual filament bulbs and their wattage vs. lifespan in hours and thought it would be good to share.Turns out the #1157 and $2057 are compatible just that the #2057 has a slightly smaller filament.

Wouldn"t the smaller filament make it more likely that the bulb would fail quicker?????? Not trying to :stirpot: ,just curious. Great info btw.David F.

Mark,"67"s & "68"s share the same body design with the obvious differences being the grilles and the design of the glass windows in the in the doors. David F.

That"s what I was thinking but the # of hours is the same so ??????For now I have the 2057 in my tail lights as I was anxious to take a post break in drive. Next time I"m at NAPA I"ll crap 4ea 1157"s and replace all the bulbs as the last thing I want is to be pulled over for a tail light being out

Sorry about that. In the first pic it kinda looked to me like there was a divider in each tail light bezel. The second photo clearly showed there was not one. I have seen people switch the bezels between years with out knowing there was any difference. I does look like a pretty cool car. mark
The taillights are different. 67 has a solid housing assembly where the 68 has the divider down the center of the lens. The pictures shows a 67 taillight assembly. If it were a 68, the taillight would have the divider down the center of each taillight.
